name isn't Cordelia Fitzgerald into the
bargain! But I don't believe her figure is as
good as mine, and her nose certainly isn't."

This deviation is based on chapter 26 of Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of the Island. I'm not satisfied with it, it didn't turned out how I'd planned, and I still have to practice a lot on anatomies and shading. I wasn't able to draw Roy's face, and I've redone Anne's rosebud dress at least dozens of times. Then I gave up. For this reason there aren't chiffon and roses all around it, as described by LMM, just cream silk. Instead I've put some flowers on Phil's dress. I'll give to this scene another try in the future, but now I've decided to post this version because I took me such a long time that I couldn't work on it one more day.

Questo è un disegno ispirato ad "Anna dai capelli rossi". lo stile è diverso dall'anime perchè ho cercato di rendere i personaggi sulla base dei libri, la cui storia va ben oltre la serie di Isao Takahata che invece si ferma al primo.

La scena in questione si svolge durante il terzo volume, che racconta la vita di Anne/Anna aprossimativamente dai 18/19 ai 22 anni. La maggior parte del libro è ambientato all'università di Redmond che Anne frequenta assieme alle sue amiche Stella, Prissy e Phil. Esce con un ragazzo molto popolare, Roy Gardner, ma non riesce a ricambiare i sentimenti di Gilbert, credendo di non provare niente per lui. Ma allo stesso tempo però non può a fare a meno di provare un'intensa gelosia nei confronti di Christine, un'amica di Gilbert che fisicamente è identica a Cordelia Fitzgerald, il suo alter ego immaginario.

Esiste un'edizione italiana di questo libro, pubblicata anni fa dalle edizioni Mursia, e molto difficile da reperire, che si intitola "Il baule dei sogni" (in originale Anne of the Island). Ora, io non sono contraria agli adattamenti se la traduzione letterale diventa un pò stonata come in questo caso, ma il titolo italiano è veramente atroce. Ho letto e riletto tante volte il volume (in inglese) e ancora devo capire che cosa centri il baule.
